Services

We're the largest, most capable provider of shipbuilding, repair and metal fabrication in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. We build, repair and modernize fishing vessels, aircraft carriers, ferries, tugs, barges and more.

We keep the maritime industry moving. We assemble and craft traditional and alternative energy platforms. We fabricate metal for sea and for land, and we finish things off with state-of-the-art blasting and coating services.

Upgrades & Overhauls

Our expert teams and our wide range of drydocks, pier sizes, buildways and indoor facilities allow us to make world-class upgrades and overhauls to modernize every type of vessel in a cost-effective manner. Our Vigor Marine teams in Tacoma, Portland and Seattle, for instance, "stretch" workboats long and wide, with custom-designed midsection and stern extensions, bulbous bows, and sponsons that increase both a vessel's storage capacity and fuel efficiency. And we add double-walls on barges where only outmoded single walls exist.

In Portland, we've widened the F/T Ocean Peace by adding 7' sponsons and 11 modules to transform the 219' vessel from 36' wide to 50'. We increase the fish hold capacity by 55% and improved fuel efficiency and mobility with a new bulbous bow and bow thruster, while keeping the crew complement unchanged.

In Tacoma, we've lengthened half of Coastal Transportation's fleet. Adding fuel efficient sterns, bulbous bows and 40'to 46' midsections, our teams are reshaping Coastal vessels for improved hydrodynamics and added capacity. We "stretched" the vessels to increase length by more than a third, adding approximately 150 tons of steel to each vessel. The end result: more freight, less fuel.

In Seattle, Portland, and Everett, we overhaul and modernize vessels for Washington State Ferries (WSF), the Alaska Marine Highway System, the City of Seattle and others. And together with WSF, we're examining the potential for turning older ferries into modern ones powered by LNG.
