Full-scope New Vessel and Large-Scale Project Construction
US Fab builds the full range of new vessels. Ferries and other passenger ships. Barges. Fishing, tanker and cargo vessels. And more. Our in-house teams lead projects from idea through launch. We collaborate with leading naval architects and engineering firms. We build. We outfit. We deliver. On budget, and on-time.
Our expert teams also fabricate large-scale projects such as bridge supports and landfill gas capture devices. Ocean wave buoys. And more.
With ongoing correspondence with ABS, DNV, Lloyds, the U.S. Coast Guard and other class and safety groups, our turnkey engineering and production team will shepherd your idea through the regulatory process.
Our outfitting crews have complex installation experience ranging from basic piping to the latest technology. We outfit passenger and car ferries. We outfit barges with full vapor processing units and electronic cargo tank monitoring systems. Our OPA-90 tank barges are designed with specifically calibrated tank heating coils to keep the product within an optimal use temperature range.
And we bring a Vigor advantage no one else can offer: On-call support from the specialists in or Vigor Shipyards, Vigor Marine and Vigor Machine subsidiaries, as well as from our Specialty Finishes company and its Specialty Marine Decking division.
Nonstop Build
Our 60-acre center on Portland's Swan Island and our 27-acre facility in Seattle's Harbor Island offer 365-day build capacity with moderate climate and large indoor bays to protect materials, increase productivity and enable us to meet or beat your schedule. Our multiple locations let us start and finish projects on our customers' timeframe.
Shipbuilding
Our shipyards have been building private, public and military vessels for nearly a hundred years. From the earliest frigates and fishing boats to the most sophisticated ferries, barges and cargo ships, US Fab builds on a strong Pacific Northwest tradition of quality shipbuilding.
We recently delivered the third of three 64-car ferries to Washington State Ferries, early and under budget. We're now underway on a new 144-car class ferry as well, with specs such as:
- 362' 3" (110.4m) length
- 83' 2" (25m) beam
- 24' 6" (7.5m) depth
- 18' (5.5m) draft
- dual shafts
- EMD 12-710 3000BHP diesel engines
Industrial Fabrication
Our craftspeople are as skilled building for the land as they are building for the sea. We fabricate everything from bridge supports to methane gas conversion devices. Our fabrication bays are ideal for small, medium and large projects. And our intermodal connections allow easy shipping in the region, across the country or around the globe.
The eight bridge bracing cubes we fabricated for the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Bridge, for example:
- Each measure 30' x 30' x 16' (9.1m x 9.1m x 4.9m)
- Each weigh 25 metric tons
- Were delivered by barge from our waterfront fabrication yards
